“With thrifting, there are endless opportunities to celebrate uniqueness!”

Kat Atwell (@thekatwell) is a mental health advocate, storyteller, comedian, and writer from the beautiful state of Colorado. Her journey into thrifting started during COVID, but really took off in 2022 when she faced limited mobility due to surgery. What started as a practical solution for sustainability quickly turned into a surprisingly healing pastime for both her mental and physical health as she wheeled through thrift stores with friends, discovering the beautiful, the weird, the silly, and the sentimental. Somewhere along the line, Kat got into the idea of rescuing art—salvaging paintings, pottery, and books became my way of celebrating creativity and individuality - celebrating herself, in a way. The items that catch her eye remind her that, just like the art she cherishes, she is a relevant and vibrant woman who somehow wound up in the 45-54 age demographic. You can find Kat sharing her discoveries at her space, "Amuse Booth," at Park Hill Treasures, on storytelling stages, and online. Kat loves to share her passion for thrifting, art rescue, and the simple joy of finding beauty in the overlooked.
