Looking for a fun way for different generations of people to come together? Look no further! We all hear people say that young people don’t know what some objects popular in the past are, so why not make a game of it?

You will need:

  • Different generations of people – invite Grandma & Grandpa over!
  • Things from the past that you don’t think your kids will be able to identify – check your local arc Thrift store!
  • A box big enough to fit all the items in it

For my things, I picked:

  1. A pie crimper
  2. A candle snuffer
  3. Pie weights
  4. A washboard
  5. A butter churn
  6. Wooden shoe trees
  7. A bed warmer
  8. A bed warming water bottle

The Activity: Have each child pick an object. Ask if they know what it is. If they don’t know what it is, ask them to guess what the object might be used for. This is a creativity game, so let them go wild in their answers – the sillier, the better! Then the older generation can tell the younger what the object really is and how it was used in everyday life to see how close or far away the child’s answer was. Players can then vote for their favorite answer of the children and their favorite answer of the elders to determine the winners!
